In 1995, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) created a new certification called Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV). One of the first recipients in the country was longtime CPA, Rob Hancock.
Nine years later, Rob left his role as a partner at one of the largest CPA firms in America to build from scratch what would become Hancock Firm. Although he was starting with nothing but a cellphone and a small study in his home for an office, Rob’s vision was to create a litigation services and financial advisory firm specializing in business valuation. And that’s what he did; something unheard of at the time and still a highly specialized niche.
Rob sought to instill in the firm his values of strong work ethic and people skills that he developed growing up in small town Conroe, Texas. While it wasn’t his intention to launch a family business, his wife Angie, his son Shea, and his daughter Kelly have all worked at Hancock Firm, with Shea currently leading the firm. They and the other members of the Hancock Firm team joined because they shared Rob’s passion for working at a place that treated clients not like a number, but as a neighbor.
